        • Using your referral code

You will be able to give £10’s worth of Bitcoin by sharing your code for others to redeem through the Luno app, as long as they fall within the following criteria:

          • The user must be over 18, with ID, and resident in the UK
          • The user must be fully verified before the code is entered
          • The wallet must be new and unused. The code must be entered before any transaction is made
          • The code will not work where the user has already been referred, e.g. via the in-app referral system
          • The code will not work on any existing wallet where any transaction has been made at any point, even if it is currently empty

To enter the code, new users will need to head to the Rewards tab > tap Enter a Code > type in the referral code.

If the referral is successful, they will receive their £10 credit immediately. Sometimes it can take a few minutes, however. If so, just wait and the system will update in due course.

          Getting your monthly payment codes

All your successful referrals using your unique code are tracked in our systems.

On a weekly basis (usually on Fridays) we'll share an update in our Telegram group where you'll be able to see how you are tracking for the month.

Around the last day of the month, a full summary is provided and that’s the basis on which your earnings are paid. You'll receive a private message on Telegram with your one time code. Simply redeem your code by typing it into the app's Rewards tab > Enter a code. This will add the correct value in Bitcoin to your wallet.

For example, if you managed 11 redemptions in the month, you will be sent a code that will instantly add £110 in Bitcoin to your wallet at the prevailing market price. (11 x £10 = £110).

Be careful with your payment code because it can't be re-issued. Do not give it out to anyone. It will automatically expire when used and can be safely discarded once done.

Please note that your one-off payment code is a single-use code designed only to credit your payment to your Luno wallet. This is entirely separate from your BP unique referral code, prefixed “BP”.

Tips and tricks to get your first referrals

Start with people you know (friends and family) who have expressed any sort of interest. Then move on to those you may spend time with professionally (work colleagues) but also people you incidentally spend time with that allow for conversation (such as hairdressers, people you find yourself travelling with, gym buddies etc).

Usually, the first part of the list is exhausted pretty quickly, the second shortly thereafter, but the third one provides an unlimited amount of new people to talk to.

Whenever you help someone get started with Bitcoin by sharing your code, it's useful for them to learn more about it in a non-technical and informative way. Therefore, don't forget to invite all your referrals to join the next available webinar, always free of charge for all participants. You can do this by just sending them the webinar registration link, or by just sharing the link on your social media.

Our webinar dates are always pinned in the Telegram group and they are also available here. Sometimes, new referrals cannot make it on the date given, but it’s worth still encouraging them to register as they will be offered other dates later on.

          Housekeeping rules

Promoting your code as a way for people to try Bitcoin for the first time is always fine in any format. However, promoting your code as a way to get a free £10 from Luno with instructions on how to withdraw to your bank account would undermine the main message. This would result in any rewards generated for the BP not being paid and possibly even the code itself being cancelled.

Further, any payment offered for use of the code by a BP (or anyone associated with them) would lead to permanent code cancellation, rewards not being paid and removal from the BP community.

Note: your code is unique and Luno periodically searches them to double check promotions are on message.

At the end of the day, this is about common sense and simply ensuring that you’re staying on message and striving to help drive Bitcoin adoption. It’s also not a short term program — over time people will actually come to YOU as Bitcoin’s adoption continues to grow!

You are free to promote your code online through any forums, pages and threads you manage or are involved with. You may also use mailing lists where people have legitimately opted in or include in any existing video / audio channels (such as YouTube or podcast platforms) as long as your messaging is correct, you make sure T&Cs are clear and you include the link to the next webinar.

Remember: this is not about hard selling or forcing people to get involved in a space they are not yet ready to join. As we all know, people find their own pace with Bitcoin and it’s about gently easing them along. A hard sell can create a negative feeling towards Bitcoin and may delay new people entering the space.

          Ways to earn more Bitcoin

On top of the regular activity we run to promote Bitcoin adoption in the UK, there's plenty of other ways for you to get involved and to earn extra Bitcoin - either through the community directly or with our friends at Luno

          1. Help Luno tell a customer story: Luno collect customer stories and share them as testimonials every month. They're always keen to hear stories of crypto beginners or even crypto skeptics, and if you know someone who might be a good fit, ask them to fill in this form and Luno will get in touch (18+, UK residents). There will be a gift for them, and for you too!
          2. Help Luno test new app features: Luno regularly test new features and prototypes and Bitcoin Pioneers can join these tests to get a first glimpse of the exciting upcoming changes, and earn extra Bitcoin. Keep an eye on the Telegram group for new testing opportunities
          3. Help us grow the community: once your personal referral code has been used at least 3 times by new users, you can invite people to join the BP community if you think they fit the bill. They will still need to go through the same process you did and, if successful, you will receive £30 in Bitcoin as a thank you for introducing them. This will be added to your monthly payment after your referee does 3 referrals using their own code. To apply, ask them to sign up through our form here and mention your name
          4. Help build the community profile: know of local crypto communities or meet ups near you? Fancy sharing your code with that community? Or promoting BP recruitment for referrals? We can come in and speak at an event that you set up or introduce us to so you can earn extra Bitcoin as you help build awareness of the community. If you fancy doing it yourself, we can even provide materials! Find out how to get involved
          5. Help university students get started: if you’re at uni, or have connections, perhaps you’d like to set up a “Bitcoin Society” - with our help of course! Imagine being able to invite your friends and colleagues to a webinar with a live AMA, give out your code en masse and perhaps even invite them to join the community. This is a new initiative, so email Jason to let him know you’d like to be involved
          6. Help spread the word in your local town: we’re looking at the idea of setting up “pop up” shops or kiosks in centres around the UK with supporting material. Local BPs (who wish to be involved) will be invited to staff those locations and be on hand to “talk about Bitcoin” to new people, share their codes, invite people to webinars and, if appropriate, invite them to become BPs. This is another new initiative, so, again, please email Jason to let him know you’d like to be involved.

More ways to get involved with the community

Like any community, the more you get involved the more you get out of it! We’re always here to listen to your comments and feedback and here’s how you can get involved and even share your own experiences (if you want to!)

          1. Help us grow our social media pages: if you've got a good bitcoin story to tell, or want to share a funny meme, pop an email at pioneers@luno.com and we'll share it on our Instagram
          2. Help us develop the community itself: all BPs are encouraged to actively participate and shape the future of the community. We regularly host monthly virtual open sessions where we can all get together and have a chat about all things Pioneers. Keep an eye out for when the next “open mic” evening is running!
