Choosing and Using your referral codes
You have two choices when you want to refer someone, but please note that while you can use either depending on what's most appropriate, you can't use both on the same referral. If you try and apply a second code, it simply won't work. Please read this part very, very carefully to make sure you understand how it works and which would be most appropriate.
If the person you're helping get started is completely new to Bitcoin, it will always be best to use your Bitcoin Pioneer code - the one prefixed "BP". Using this code means that new people don't have to put their own money in to start with and that's important when you feel nervous and unsure about what you're doing. Perhaps it was the same for you!
You will be able to give your brand new referral £10’s worth of Bitcoin by sharing your BP code in the Luno app as long as the following applies:
To enter the code, new users will need to head to the Rewards tab > tap Enter a Code > type in the referral code. This is what the screens look like:
Go to the 'Rewards' section of the app and select "Enter code"
Enter the BP code here and £10 will be credited.
Note: Please use your own BP code, Jason's code is used as an example.
If the referral is successful, they will receive their £10 credit which will be visible immediately, although it will remain locked for 30 days. This lock-in period is designed for new users to have time to attend the FREE "Bitcoin Essentials" webinar which is a key part of our mission.
(Note: Sometimes it can take a few minutes to appear for the £10 to appear. If so, just wait and the system will update in due course.)
Sometimes you might want to refer someone who is already familiar with Bitcoin. They might have dabbled with it years ago, for example, be at the start of their journey and a little unsure about what they're doing, or might even just be looking for a better wallet or exchange solution. In these cases you might consider using your "in-app" code.
This can yield increased referral rewards for both you and the person you're referring (between £20 and £40) but it is not usually appropriate for people who are very new to Bitcoin since a deposit of £100 is required to activate the reward. As mentioned above, for brand new people who are very wary of getting started, this is often a step too far at this stage. For them, use your BP code.
All Luno users have their own in-app codes whether they are part of the Bitcoin Pioneer community or not. Depending on how active you've been with Luno over the proceeding 12 months proceeding, your reward level will vary from £20 (level 1, lowest) to £40 (level 3, highest) per referral, for both of you. In other words, if you're level 3 and you sucessfully refer someone to Luno, you will BOTH receive £40 in Bitcoin paid directly into your wallet once the £100 deposit is made. Note: Rewards may be locked for 30 days.
As a BP, you'll also benefit from the extra rewards triggered when your new referral gets more and more active with Bitcoin (or other cryptos) as detailed here.
To find your reward levels and your code, open the Luno app and follow these instructions:
Click on "rewards" and then select "Reward Levels"
Your reward level and your progress towards your next level will be shown here. This is the amount you (and your referral) will receive when you refer someone
To access your unique in-app code, click on "refer friends" from the previous screen.
Sharing your code is straightforward. Simply click on the "Share your code" button and follow the instructions.
